I hope you had a good Christmas, certainly a different one for us.
I am sure you are all fed up with these words by now, so here is the last one for this year, I am having next week off you will all be relieved to know!!
Wow, what a year!! No one could have predicted 2020 but here we are, Tier 4 lockdown for the seeable future. Whilst lots of people say it has been a bad year, a terrible year, no races, I feel we can draw a lot of good from the bad, so lets not look back negatively but forward with positivety.
We have found a new home, which hopefully will be permanent. A home we can utilise for our challenge and for social events. I can’t wait for the Summer, to be sat outside on a Thursday evening having a beer and chatting about running (what else?).
We now run in groups. Brilliant, so many comments about how good it is, how it works for everyone, a pace and distance for all abilities, no one left at the back roaming the streets of Witney on their own. I have sat on Committee meetings for hours trying to make it work, we all agreed it couldn’t be done…..BOOM…. when you have to, you can.
Spond, what a revelation, and so easy even I can use it. (thanks to our Queens of the Spond lessons).
A hard working committee. Just ask, it can be done, they can do it. Virtual races, Challenges, New routes, Risk Assessments, Method statements, Covid 19 methods, cones, numbers, whatever it takes to keep the Club moving along.
The spirit and camaraderie of our membership. You can put on all the events you want, but you need people to do them, and you sure do!! I am always amazed by the turn out for every event we put on, YOU are amazing!!! It really makes a difference and keeps the enthusiasm going.
NTPR…. not everyone’s cup of tea, but woe betide you if you don’t send that 5k time in.
Next year will be better, it really will if you stay positive, stay healthy, and keep running.
Enough of the preaching. Make sure you reach out, stay in touch, keep posting your runs, try to run with one other person whenever you can, it really helps.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
