WITNEY ROAD RUNNERS

Club Captains

Club Team Captains

The Club has two Joint Club Team Captains for Men and for Ladies.

For the 2019/2020 season, these are Sam Upton and James (Bertie) Field for the men, Melanie Cassidy and Lucy Harris for the ladies.

The role of the Team Captain is to coordinate all aspects of the Clubs activities wherever teams are involved. They are a vital part of the Clubs wellbeing and should be alert at all times to Club Members talents and potential.

It is also vital they bear in mind the mission statement of the Club, i.e inclusivity at all levels. Although the Club is keen to be competitive, and always strive to be the best, it is not an elitist Club, and all members, whatever ability they have, should be welcomed and encouraged into team events.

Team Captains should be high profile, well known, accessible, and be prepared to actively communicate on Club nights, via the Newsletter, via Social media, and on an individual basis.

It is important that any communication relating to Team matters is undersigned by the Team Captains to strengthen this role within the Club, so all Committee Members need to bear this in mind in any proposed activities.

They should have an active rapport with any Club coaches at both Junior and Senior levels, to identify and encourage talent and potential.

They should regularly attend Club Committee Meetings (only one of each need attend) to report to the Committee on strategy and results (At present they are not elected members of the Committee, so would not have a vote)

In line with maintaining the profile of Team Captains, they should be actively involved in the Annual Club Award Ceremony normally held at the Christmas Party. Level of involvement should be by agreement with the Club Chairman.
