Variety is the Spice of Life….this statement is so true when it comes to running. Running can be boring and repetitive so you need to inject a little “je ne sais quois” into it to keep the interest alive. Endless junk miles are not really a lot of good, but something different every now and again really livens up the inspiration, and can be so beneficial.
Thursday night added another piece of fish to the stew, and provided yet another ingredient to the great menu that Witney Roadrunners provides to its wonderful membership.
From my perspective, the work that Bertie, Nick and Toby put in to initiate the idea, work out the details, negotiate with the Ducklington Sports Club, make contact with Alchester, and see the event through to such a successful conclusion is testament to their determination to make the WRR offer so compelling.
I would like to place on record a big thank you to all three of them for their efforts, and I’m so pleased that so many turned up to compete. That is what makes the effort so worthwhile. It was a truly brilliant sight seeing all the runners along the Down Valley Way. It was also brilliant to see so many marshals, resplendent in yellow HiViz, cheering so loudly.
I really hope that this event blossoms and develops into the vision that Bertie Nick and Toby foresee, and becomes a really successful annual open event. It certainly deserves to be.
A great addition to the WRR portfolio of events, guys….well done and THANK YOU!
