I have sent out as many emails to individuals as possible about the change of pickup point for the London Marathon coach and minibus.
PARKING – Woodford Way open air car park, NOT the multi-storey one.
PLEASE be there in plenty of time, we will be leaving just before 6am, we do not have time to wait for anyone who is late, as we need to get our runners to start in plenty of time as we do not want them getting stressed.
RETURN JOURNEY – You will all be given instructions on how to get the Morpeth Arms pub for the return journey, the coach leaves the put at 5pm. You will all be given contact details if you have trouble getting back to the pub. It will be best to ring Tony Lock as he is responsible for the coach on the day.
MARSHALS
You will be given marshal packs when you arrive at the car park, these will contain a yellow marshal bib and a personalised lanyard these MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES once you have left the coach. The lanyard and bib will allow you free movement on the London transport and also allow you to go on to the course. In your pack will be instructions for getting back to the pub for the return journey home.
Please remember you will be standing all day from 8.30am until you leave your marshal position about 2.30pm, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing. At the moment I do not know the weather forecast, but please be prepared for all conditions, you may get cold and wet (hopefully not).
You will need to bring a packed lunch with you as you may not have time to buy any once in position. There are places close by to buy coffees and there are toilets available.
For first time marshals I hope you enjoy the experience, it is a fantastic day out and you do get to stand on the course and see all the elite athletes close up.
RUNNERS
I hope your training has gone well and good luck to you all on the day. We hope to see you all half way across Tower Bridge at about 12.5 miles and along East Smithfield – at this point we will see you again on your return just before 23 miles.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, bright and early.
