Its back!! The last time this iconic event was run was 2019.
2020 was a virtual event and 2021 just didnt happen due to Covid. However as the nation settles into an era of peace, financial and Political stability and a general feeling of well-being… I am joking of course. It’s time to renew battle with The Land of the Dragon.
Next Saturday, the 29th October will see 7 runners from Witney resume the liaison with Welsh tarmac that has been part of the club’s DNA since the mid-1980’s.
The race was established in 1982 as an alternative to Big City Marathons and has grown in popularity ever since. WRR’s have been going since 1985, and barring Covid, haven’t missed a year since then.
I’m sure we all wish Gareth Petts, Margaret Mason, Matt Lock, Kirsty Webb, Jim Pearce, John Green and Mark Johnson all the very best of luck. The weather looks well, Welsh, so a pretty damp day is in store for them and the usual tribe of noisy WRR supporters, but do we care? Do we ‘eckers like, as us Yorkshire folk like to say!
Race report will follow in due course.
Pob lwc!! I think thats Welsh for Good Luck!
